There is currently a gap in business valuations between sellers and buyers in the market, according to Chris Smyth, Americas Private Equity Sector Leader, EY. In this NAIC Market Update, Smyth, responsible for leading EY’s private equity professionals in 31 countries in the Americas, notes that inflationary pressures, rising interest rates and other macroeconomic issues contribute to lower valuations assigned by potential buyers. He notes that companies with strong fundamentals and growth profiles remain very attractive to PE investors, and those deals are getting done.
