Junkin joined VRS from Rhode Island, where he served as the CIO, overseeing the state’s $10.5 billion pension plan. Before his public fund experience, he served in various capacities at Wilshire Associates. During his tenure as President, Wilshire launched an initiative requiring consultants to recommend at least one woman- or diverse-owned firm in every manager search. The consultancy also mandated that manager search materials would include statistics for how diverse a given asset management firm’s ownership is.
