Harland R. Abraham is the Vice President of Development for the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), the trade association and largest network of diverse-owned alternative investment firms. Harland is responsible for new business development, focused on expanding corporate sponsorships and new partnerships.
Prior to joining NAIC, Harland was the Chief Business Development Officer at INROADS, Inc. During his tenure he led Strategic Account Management, Business Development, the Financial Services Institute (FSI), Government Sector and Talent Management. Prior to INROADS, Harland was Vice President in the Public and Taft-Hartley Funds Division, Corporate & Institutional Services, for The Northern Trust Company in Chicago, IL and Washington, DC. In this role, Harland was the lead Client Executive to select Public Funds and Taft-Hartley clients.
Harland began his professional career as an Electrical Engineer for Reliance Electric Company in Cleveland, OH. He later moved to Fort Wayne, IN with the General Electric Company’s (GE) Motor Business Group as an Engineer in Technical Sales and Marketing. He later joined IBM Corporation as a Marketing Representative and Client Executive in Cleveland, OH.
Harland earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Cleveland State University’s Fenn College of Engineering (Now the Washkewicz College of Engineering) along with Minors in Physics and Mathematics, a Certificate in Public Pension Investment Management from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, a Certificate in Business Administration with a concentration in Not-for-Profit Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, Great Cities Institute. Harland also earned a US Patent in 2014 for engineering design work provided on a medical device he helped invent with a doctor and a nurse in New York City.
Harland is a former Member of the INROADS Mid-Atlantic Region Board of Directors, where he served as the Chair, and INROADS National Boards of Directors, where he was Chair of the Finance Committee. He is a graduate of the United Way Services of New York City’s Linkages Board Training Program, and United Way Services of Greater Cleveland’s Leadership Development Program. He is a former outside Board Director for Ganton Technologies, Inc., a former $250 Million, privately held, aluminum, zinc and magnesium die casting company that was in Wisconsin.
Mr. Abraham and his wife, Lisa, live in Columbia, Maryland and have two sons Brandon, and Jordan.
