Deal values may be down in 2022 but remain strong, particularly considering 2021 was a historic year for valuations in PE – reaching $1 trillion in total value for the first time, says Chris Smyth, Americas Private Equity Sector Leader, EY. In this NAIC Market Update, Smyth, responsible for leading EY’s private equity professionals in 31 countries in the Americas, sees strong deal activity in the market. However, he also says pressure from economic uncertainty and inflationary concerns make it difficult for buyers and sellers to agree on business valuations.
