The role of Commonfund Institute is to contribute measurably to Commonfund’s vision to be the most influential asset manager to nonprofits and the public sector. The Institute is specifically responsible for: (1) conducting proprietary market research within the nonprofit sector; and (2) for communicating strategic insights on matters of governance and investment policy to trustees and investment staff of educational institutions, private foundations, nonprofit healthcare organization and public pension funds. The Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) is responsible for oversight of the investment portfolios of the New York City Retirement Systems (Systems) totaling over $191 billion in assets as of October 31, 2017.
